Prof. Ron Daniel

Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education

Professor Ronald Daniel joined the Provost's office in 1997 with over twenty years of teaching experience in Virginia Tech's College of Architecture and Urban Studies, and continues to teach design classes on a part time basis. He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech and his Master of Architecture degree from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. His primary instructional area of focus while in Architecture was at the Foundation level, with first and second year undergraduate students, where he received a number of teaching awards at the college and national levels. His research interests have been strongly connected to his teaching and include work with film, video, and digital technology. Animated films and multimedia productions, directed by Professor Daniel and produced in collaboration with his students in Architecture, have been shown and recognized nationally and internationally. Professor Daniel was involved in a wide range of department, college and university service prior to his appointment in the Provost office. He chaired the Foundation Architecture Program for over eight years and headed the Department of Architecture for four years. He was also the first faculty chair of the Commission on Undergraduate Studies at the inception of the new University Governance structure at Virginia Tech.
