Dr. David R. Ford

Vice President and Dean for Undergraduate Education

David R. Ford returned to Virginia Tech on January 1, 1998 as the Vice President and Dean for Undergraduate Education after serving at Vincennes University in Indiana for seven years as the Vice President for Instructional Services and Dean of Faculty. Ford spent more than a decade in various positions at Virginia Tech. His last position before leaving Virginia Tech in 1990 was Associate Vice President for Facilities. His tenure at Vincennes and Virginia Tech are marked by successes in academic and administrative leadership.Dr. David Ford

Ford holds a B.S. in agronomy, an M.S. in crop physiology and crop ecology, and a Ph.D. in crop physiology and biochemistry, all from Purdue University.

Specifically the Vice President and Dean for Undergraduate Education assumes administrative leadership for:

  • Enrollment Services (Undergraduate Admissions, University Registrar, and Scholarships and Financial Aid);
  • Undergraduate Education Programs through the Associate Provost (University Honors Program, Center for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, Undergraduate Honor System, Office of Academic Assessment, University Core Curriculum, University Academic Advising Center, University Advising); and Center for European Studies and Architecture;
  • the Center for Academic Enrichment and Excellence;
  • Student Athlete Academic Support Services;
  • University Summer Sessions, and
  • the Institute for Distance and Distributed Learning.
