Virginia Tech uses an electronic faculty activity data system to collect and manage information about research and scholarship, creative works, teaching, extension, outreach, and service activities. This system automates the production of annual faculty activity reports, promotion and tenure dossiers, and CVs, as well as department, college, and university level reports. The system also enables direct deposit of scholarly works into the VTechWorks institutional repository and feeds public web profiles using VIVO.
User testing, data import, and report development are taking place in summer 2016. Training for faculty is available through NLI beginning in fall 2016.
