Podcasts: Promotion and Tenure
The Office of the Provost sponsored an information session on promotion and tenure for deans, department heads, and departmental and college P&T committee members on Sept. 7, 2007. The session has been broken down into six podcasts:

Provost Mark McNamee's introduction discusses the university's goal of a fair and effective Promotion and Tenure review at all levels, how various issues are considered by the university committee, and the importance of removing some of the "mystery" of the P&T review process for participants.

Dr. Sam Easterling
Dr. Sam Easterling, member of the Commission on Faculty Affairs, discusses recent policy changes adopted by University Council and the Board of Visitors in 2006-07. These include part-time tenure-track appointments, pre-tenure reviews, annual evaluations, P&T committee composition and related changes, and the new instructor career ladder.

Dick Benson, Charles Bostian, Karen Inzana, and Art Keown discuss how they approach the work of reviewing dossiers at the university level, how they look at dossiers from different disciplines, what aspects of dossier presentation are most critical, what makes it easier for them to draw conclusions, etc. Questions and answers follows in Part II.

MP3 Downloads
To download an MP3, right click (ctrl click on the Mac) and select "Save As." You will then be able to choose where on your computer to save the file. You will also need software to listen to the MP3. There are many options but Windows Media Player, Real Player, Quicktime, iTunes, and Juice are some of the most commonly used applications.
