Boeing offers students the opportunity to showcase their creativity, innovation and technical skills during the second annual Boeing Innovation Challenge (BIC).

This fast paced, multi-round and multi-University teaming competition will help inspire tomorrow’s aviation leaders to think broadly, develop important relationships and provides the opportunity to address real challenges facing an industry that continues to drive economies and connect cultures.

The BIC goal is to identify early the high quality innovative and diverse talent needed to create the next generation of advanced commercial aircraft.


Phase 1

September 10 – November 15, 2019

  • Open to All Participating Universities’ Students, with initial teaming
  • 1+ page entry documenting ideas
  • Boeing Selects top 20 Ideas of Interest (top approx. 50 students)

Phase 2

January 10, 2020

  • Virtual Teaming and Idea Combining Mixed University Teams
  • Self Downselect to top 8-10 Ideas of Student Interest

Phase 3

January 20 - 22, 2020

  • Hackathon with Top 45-50 Students in 8-10 teams at Mukilteo, Washington event
  • One Hackathon Team Winner
  • All Ideas are Potential for Post Competition Development
