Destination Areas (DA) and Strategic Growth Area (SGA) are guided by stakeholder committees that include faculty and staff from across the university. The committees will develop innovative curricula, research projects, support networks, and competitive hiring strategies to foster transdisciplinary teams of faculty. Three cross-cutting committees are responsible for recruitment and hiring strategy, research strategy, and VT-shaped learning.

Cluster Operations and Hiring Committee

The role of the committee is to coordinate DA cluster hiring and advance inclusion and diversity throughout the hiring process. It develops promotion and tenure models for optimal administration among existing and future faculty.

Research Strategies Committee

The role of the committee is to assist DAs, colleges, and institutes to develop effective research strategies around Virginia Tech’s network of strengths.

VT-Shaped Learning Committee

The role of the committee is to develop and coordinate the design of DA-related transdisciplinary curricula for undergraduate and graduate students.
