National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity

Virginia Tech Institutional Member of NCFDD

Virginia Tech is now an institutional member of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). The independent center provides professional development, training, and mentorship opportunities to more than 65,000 members representing colleges and universities in the United States. The center focuses on helping faculty, particularly underrepresented faculty, successfully make the transition from graduate student to professor.

Promotion and Tenure

The provost's staff provides support to the university promotion and tenure committee and oversees the process. 

Promotion to Professor

AdvanceVT and the Office of the Provost host occasional workshops to provide information for associate professors preparing for promotion. 

Open Access Publishing

Virginia Tech's open access (OA) subvention fund subsidizes article processing fees for scholarly peer-reviewed articles accepted for publication in open access or hybrid OA journals.
