From Provost Julie Ross: Support for Those Affected by Unrest in Iran

Recent unrest and reports of violence against demonstrators in Iran have been deeply distressing for many members of our university community, particularly the faculty, staff, and students who have loved ones living there. For many, the turmoil is compounded by the difficulty of contacting family and friends back home, adding to the sense of worry and uncertainty. These circumstances may understandably affect their ability to concentrate on academic work and other responsibilities.

In support of our Iranian colleagues and students, please offer them your compassion and patience during this difficult time and be attentive to the emotional impacts of this situation. For our instructional faculty, I encourage you to do your best to be flexible with affected students and provide your support and understanding as they navigate this crisis.

Thank you for your continued support of our students and colleagues who are dealing with these challenging circumstances. Faculty and staff should keep in touch with their department heads for guidance on issues that may require further flexibility.
