Director, University Ombuds Office
Virginia Tech welcomes applications and nominations for the inaugural director of its University Ombuds Office. Reporting to the president, the director will establish and lead the Ombuds Office in keeping with the International Ombudsman Association’s principles of independence, neutrality and impartiality, confidentiality, and informality. The office will serve faculty, staff, students, and – when appropriate – others who may encounter difficulties in the scope of their interactions with the university, facilitating communication and the resolution of conflicts, advocating for fairness and a healthy campus climate, and assisting all parties seeking support in reaching mutually acceptable resolutions that are consistent with the ideals and objectives of the university.

Dean of the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine
Following the announcement that current Dean Cynda Johnson will step down from her role later this year, Virginia Tech and Carilion Clinic launched an international search for the next Dean of the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
As part of the interview and selection process, Cyril Clarke, interim executive vice president and provost at Virginia Tech, and Patrice Weiss, chief medical officer for Carilion Clinic, invite all members of the Virginia Tech Carilion community to meet candidate Dr. Lee Learman as he visits our campuses to interview.
Dr. Lee Learman: November 28 - 30, 2018
Dr. Learman currently serves as the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education at the Florida Atlantic University Schmidt College of Medicine, where he also is the Designated Institutional Official and a tenured professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He brings over 20 years of progressive leadership experience in medical education and clinical leadership, and has been recognized with multiple awards for education and research.

Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences
Virginia Tech has announced the search for the next dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. Rosemary Blieszner has served as dean since March 2017 and, as originally planned, will be returning as faculty by summer 2019. During her tenure as dean, Blieszner has served with distinction and has earned the appreciation of faculty and administrators for stabilizing and moving the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences forward.
Alan Grant, dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will serve as chair of search committee for this process, assisted by the executive search firm Isaacson, Miller.
