From Provost Julie Ross: ARA Recommendations and Next Steps
Dear colleagues,
Following the release of the Academic Resource Alignment (ARA) report in January and my review of the findings and recommendations, I wanted to provide you with an update on next steps in the process.
First and foremost, I want to clarify that the recommendations presented in the ARA report are just that: recommendations. They are presented as possible strategies and actions to address alignment issues that were identified by the committee. They also represent suggestions for additional areas within the academic enterprise that need to be studied.
I am currently working closely with your deans to review each recommendation and the supporting data, on a case-by-case basis, to determine those we should pursue at this time and those that require further analysis and discussion. Moving forward, the evaluation of relevant metrics will be integrated into our standard annual processes for academic reporting and review for each college.
As we continue with this important process, I hope faculty will stay engaged and connect with their deans if they have questions or feedback. Recognizing that transparency and open communication are critical to the success of this endeavor, I will continue to share updates and information with your deans, department heads, and Faculty Senate representatives as often as possible.
Thank you for your continued partnership, commitment to our mission, and contributions to the success and advancement of Virginia Tech.
In the spirit of Ut Prosim,
Julie
